Overview 👀
A mid-sized wildlife services provider in Australia needed a modernized internal platform to unify its fragmented admin workflows — from initial customer inquiries to job scheduling, payments, and reporting.
The legacy system caused delays, steep training curves, and inconsistencies across job stages. My role was to lead the design of a new interface tailored for cross-role teams (dispatchers, admins, field staff), while preserving familiar language and processes.
Design Goals
- Create a single dashboard for managing full job lifecycle
- Build a filter system supporting cross-stage workflows
- Enable customization of table views for efficiency
- Ensure accessibility compliance (WCAG 2.1 AA)
- Maintain continuity in legacy terms and internal logic
- Support mobile-first layouts for field staff use
Design Strategy
- Filter Architecture: Built a hybrid system combining global filters (e.g., worker name) with context-aware filters tied to each workflow stage
- Navigation: Used persistent tabs and saved views to reduce friction for frequent actions
- Customization: Enabled column reordering and visibility toggling, inspired by e-commerce dashboards
- Terminology: Cleaned up and clarified date labels and internal statuses without disrupting team familiarity
- Responsiveness: Introduced collapsible filter sections and horizontal table scrolls for mobile devices
Key Features
- Priority task tab for urgent job callbacks
